Puerto Vallarta’s “Rhythms of the Night” Puts on an Unforgettable Spectacle

Rhythms of the Night Puerto Vallarta

Rhythms of the Night is the best thing you can do in Puerto Vallarta.

Listen.

I was excited about this show before I even saw it. I came here as part of a press trip for RAGE Magazine. As soon as I saw this on the itinerary, I was ready.

First of all, I love anything “circus” themed.

Although Rhythms of the Night is not a direct Cirque du Soleil show, it does have the same creators. Knowing that, I knew it would be a night that I would never forget. Once I found out it won the 2021 TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice Award, I knew we were in for a treat.

This excursion is one of the options through Vallarta Adventures. Take a cruise on a luxury yacht across the Bay of Benderas as the sun sets on the horizon. Meanwhile, the open bar gets you nice and lacquered for the show.

The yacht takes you deep into the heart of the romantic Las Caletas rainforest. There, the set of the show takes place near a crumbling pyramid underneath the open stars.

Before you venture into the auditorium, stroll along the beach as the sun finishes setting and feast on the buffet provided.

After you’ve eaten, weave your way through the bamboo as it leads you toward the auditorium which exudes a vibrant energy as soon as you see it. The pyramid under the stars brings the impact as you prepare for the show.

The show itself exonerates the power of the human spirit and the way we have persisted as a race throughout time. Utilizing imagery, music, and dance, Rhythms of the Night tells the story of the Aztec creation of humankind.

According to the legend, there were four civilizations of humanity prior to the one we know now. As each period passed, humans saw both their evolution and their demise. Those periods saw destruction by way of tornadoes, fires, and floods. However, the resilience of the humans through rituals and sacrifices helped keep us alive.

Told through an acrobatic structure filled with an explosion of color, this is a full experience more than just a show. From the dancers, drummers, and jungle creatures awaiting you on a tiki-lit pathway to the swaying palm trees underneath the sea of stars, there’s nothing about this trip you’ll forget.

While the story unfolds as the performers tell this magical tale, you’ll feel the energy of the ancestors through the spiritual celebrations. This show offers an unbeatable way to experience and understand the history and culture of Mexico. And when you add all the stunts within the actual show, what more could you ask for?

Be aware this show continues rain or shine — because, yes, it does rain in Puerto Vallarta every so often.

However, on those rainy days, umbrellas will be provided whenever they’re needed.

On the food side of things, they’re also accommodating toward allergies and food preferences when it comes to the buffet. Simply email info@vallarta-adventures.com to let them know prior to your visit.

When you’re booking those tickets — which tend to run at about $159 USD -- keep in mind that children under the age of 6 will not be allowed. If you're planning a trip with children younger than them, you'll either have to find a sitter for the night or choose a different show.

As with other options through Vallarta Adventures, this beach also offers weddings for those who are interested in the option.
