Listen, we’re all excited to get our vaccinations and move forward to normal life, and San Diego is ready to party.
Although social distancing and mask mandates are still happening through June 15, here’s a few things for you to enjoy for Memorial Day Weekend in San Diego.
Friday Night
Live Jazz: Nu Moods at Qartyard
We can’t wait for live music to make its full comeback, but a night with some sweet jazz is a nice entrance.
Nu Moods consists of Lexi Pulido on vocals, Mackenzie Leighton on bass, Louis Valenzuela on guitar, and Julien Cantelm on the drums. They will be joined by other musicians throughout the night.
Doors open at 6:30, and the show starts at 7. Tickets are $10, but if you’re not there by 7:30, your ticket may be resold.
Additionally, there’s a 2-ticket limit and a 2 drink, 1 food item minimum. All ages are welcome, so come get into some jazz!
Eskuche & Alan Nieves at Bang Bang
If you want a full night out, head on over to Bang Bang for Eskuche and Alan Nieves.
Bang Bang is a Japanese restaurant out in the Gaslamp Quarter that boasts the largest disco ball on the West Coast.
Eskuche is one of the more recent breakout DJs heading on a consistent rise. Alan Nieves is on his own upward trajectory, too. The mix of these two under that disco ball is a night you’re sure to remember.
Tickets start at $20. This event is 21 and over, so keep that in mind. Doors open at 10 pm.
Saturday Night
Beach Boys at Petco Park
And she’ll have fun, fun, fun till her daddy takes the T-bird awaaaay.
Yes, you better believe the Beach Boys are coming out to Petco Park for Memorial Day 2021 in San Diego.
They’ll also have John Stamos from Full House and Mark McGrath from Sugar Rey singing with them, so, honestly? Great mom date. That’s what I’m doing, anyway.
These tickets have a limited availability (obviously), and start at $29.
Be sure to have your mask, but this will be a socially distanced event. You can order your own pod, though! Sounds like a good time to me.
Rafa Barrios at Bang Bang
In case you missed Eskuche at Bang Bang on Friday, or if you want to come back for another night under the dance floor, come party with Rafa Barrios.
Rafa’s been killing it as a DJ since the sweet young age of 14.
Nowadays, he’s got about 20 years of experience under his belt, and he knows how to throw down.
Same as with Eskuche, these tickets start at $20.
Additionally, as with this event and all the others listed here, masks and proof of vaccination or recent negative COVID test required for entrance.
Sunday Funday
Vinyl DJ Sets by FeeLit Records Selektors at Qartyard

Did somebody say free event?
Yes!
It is time to recommence Sunday Funday at the Qartyard for some awesome barbecue and music!
As stated above, this event is free, but does require both a reservation and a purchase of food.
If the venue is at capacity, there is also a 90 minute maximum at the tables. However, you’ve got all afternoon — 12 pm-close — to find a slot and a musician.

Sip and Swim at the Lafayette Hotel
Wait, it’s also time to have pool parties again?
Hallelujah!
Memorial Day Weekend in San Diego sounds like a great time to kick those back off down here, right?
The Lafayette Hotel is one of the San Diego staples, but don't stress too much if you can't make it for the kickoff. Every Sunday from May 30-September 5, you’ve got from 12pm-5pm to come get your tan on while you sip some cocktails poolside.
Presale tickets are $25, and are $30 are at the door.
If you’re a guest at the hotel, though, you get in for free.
Ziggy Marley at Petco Park
As if seeing one legend in the Beach Boys was not enough at Petco Park on Saturday, head back on over on Sunday to watch Ziggy Marley play a live tribute to his father.
I’m sure there will be some tears along the way, but it’s bound to be an incredible experience.
These tickets also start at $29, but are selling out quickly. Don’t sleep on this one!
Again, as with the other events, a recent negative COVID test or proof of vaccination required for entry.
Don’t forget those masks, either! We’re so close to not needing them anymore, just hang tight!
Rinzen at Bang Bang
Whether you missed either of the first two or want to close out the weekend with a third visit to Bang Bang, stop in on Sunday night for Rinzen.
Rinzen has been on the scene for a few years now, and continues to level up his game.
As with the other shows, these tickets start at $20.
This is also a 21 and over event. Doors open at 9.
