Seattle-Tacoma International Airport Shells Out $4.6 Billion Toward Passenger Experience
Washington's Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) plans to invest over $4.6 billion to support passenger experience over the next five years.
The Port of Seattle Commission announced the projects, which come on the heels of recent improvements made to one million square feet of new and upgraded facilities.
Port of Seattle Commissioner Sam Cho said, "The modernized N Concourse and new International Arrivals facility launched a new era for SEA. Passengers can already experience the night and day difference where we offer the most modern facilities, amenities, and sustainability."
The airport also introduced a new "Upgrade SEA" capital campaign to help passengers prepare for the coming changes.
The SEA Gateway Project and S Concourse Evolution
Of the $4.6 billion investment, $250 million is headed toward the advancement of two key projects, the SEA Gateway Project and S Concourse Evolution.
The $159.5 million for the SEA Gateway Project, which partners with Alaska Airlines, aims to modernize the 40-year-old ticketing, security, and bag claim areas in the terminal's north end.
The S Concourse Evolution plans to use the $100 million they received to majorly remodel and restructure existing spaces.
Other Projects at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
Funding for the fifth and final phase of SEA's Restroom Renovation Project has also been approved.
New public restrooms opened on Concourses B, C, and D. This continues upgrading old and outdated facilities.
"To hit our efficiency and customer service goals we need to build up, modernize where we can, and introduce new technology," said SEA Managing Director Lance Lyttle.

Time-Saving Technology at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
Frequent fliers from SEA have probably noticed their time-saving technology throughout the year.
The SEA Spot Saver, a free option, lets fliers reserve their space in the TSA line.
The Automated Parking Guidance Project installed light indicators.
